The Queensland Academy of Creative Industries is a state of the art educational facility located on the University of Queensland campus in Kelvin Grove.
The Academy provides teaching facilities for students gifted in the performing arts. The $40 million project includes a 300 seat theatre, classrooms, administration areas, a library, cafe and break out areas.
The project was completed under a GMP method of delivery with a share of savings between ADCO and the Department of Education for cost reduction measures, developed by the project team.
The construction presented a number of logistical challenges with the project extending to the site boundaries on all sides. ADCO’s site team successfully managed the materials handling challenges as well as high traffic flows in the Kelvin Grove precinct.
The project was constructed over 52 weeks and opened for the first school semester in 2008.
