Shoalhaven River, NSW Bundanon Art Museum and Bridge for Creative Learning

ADCO was delighted to lead our client Bundanon’s project to build a subterranean art museum and Bridge for Creative Learning at Riversdale.

Nestled alongside the Shoalhaven River, Bundanon’s collection of nearly 4,000 artworks and objects, valued at over $43 million, will be safely housed in the new subterranean Art Museum, built into the hillside and protected from bushfires. The Art Museum will showcase a year-round program of modern and contemporary exhibitions, celebrating the work of many artists including Arthur Boyd, one of the most renowned Australian artists of the 20th century.

This visually stunning and culturally significant development, designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects was winner of the Sir Zelman Cowen Award and The Sulman Medal, in the public architecture category at the National and NSW Chapter Architecture Awards 2022, the named awards are the highest honour that can be bestowed on public and community projects. The project has also received national recognition in the sustainable architecture category.
