Pimpama Station

After a successful Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) period, ADCO was appointed to design and construct the new Pimpama train station on the Gold Coast line, the first new station on the South East Queensland rail network in nearly a decade. Built on a brownfield site, the station opened to customers on Monday 20 October 2025, giving one of Australia’s fastest-growing communities direct rail access to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The completed station includes 380 car parks, a pedestrian overpass with lifts, secure bike enclosures and CCTV throughout. It was co-designed with disability sector representatives so that it is accessible to everyone.

Construction began in November 2022 and included civil and services works over a live rail line. A key element was managing bulk excavation in rock and building retaining walls within the rail corridor, next to critical infrastructure including road bridges and public utility plants. Careful track alignment design and comprehensive rail infrastructure monitoring plans protected the integrity and safety of rail operations throughout construction.

As Principal Contractor, ADCO made the safe, reliable operation of the railway, including maintenance activities, central to planning and construction. Rail services continued with minimal disruption throughout the works, in line with stringent industry standards.

Pimpama Station supports the region’s growing infrastructure needs, with local bus routes realigned to connect with the new station and improve travel across the northern Gold Coast.
