ADCO Breaks Ground on Waurn Ponds Sporting Complex: A Game-Changer for Geelong’s Community and Sport
Exciting progress is underway in Mount Duneed, Victoria, where ADCO has secured the contract to deliver the new Waurn Ponds Sporting Complex being delivered by Development Victoria in partnership with Sport and Recreation Victoria.
To mark the start of construction, we proudly hosted key stakeholders including The Hon. Ros Spence, Minister for Community Sport, Corrina Eccles, Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Corporation, Hannah Clement Executive General Manager Civic Infrastructure Development Victoria, and Councillor Stretch Kontelj Mayor, City of Greater Geelong for a sod-turning event celebrating the beginning of a transformative project for the region.
This major regional sports and community hub is being delivered in partnership with Development Victoria, Sport and Recreation Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong, and Wadawurrung Traditional Owners. As part of the Victorian Government’s Regional Sports Infrastructure Program, the complex will feature:
– Six multi-sport indoor courts
– A regional-level gymnastics facility
– A dance studio and hall
– Modern change rooms and community spaces
– Over 300 car parking spaces, including EV charging facilities
Co-designed to reflect local cultural heritage, the project will embed Wadawurrung-led storytelling into the built form and landscape.
More than just a facility, this is a long-term investment in Geelong’s liveability, health, and economic participation, supporting job creation, inclusive community spaces, and regional event-hosting capacity.
Completion is expected in early 2027, and we are thrilled to be part of this legacy.
